Phil Shakespeare lives and works in London, creating textile art inspired by the bold geometric forms, light, and shadows of the built environment.

Often referencing the shapes and details of concrete brutalist architecture, each unique piece is created by sewing together a series of linen panels using a sewing machine. The finished artwork is then stretched over a frame.

Originally from Staffordshire, Phil studied BA (Hons) Design and Art Direction at Manchester Metropolitan University and moved to London in 2007. He works in graphic design and previously in upholstery, as well as having a love of architecture and interior design, all of which influence his work.
